Betty’s Bargain Shop is a hit at Eastbourne HouseA new shopping experience initiative introduced at Eastbourne House care home in Whitley Bay has proved a hit with Residents at the home.

Betty’s Bargains, a shop dedicated to the wellbeing of Residents, has been introduced on the home’s Grace Unit.

The shop was officially opened by local counsellor Judith Wallace and has already proven a success, with the first customer James being served by a Resident at Eastbourne House.

The project idea came from staff members Jan and Bev from the Grace Unit, who fundraised, designed and built the shop. They decided to name it in memory of a much-loved, former Resident.

One Resident said: “I love taking a trip to Betty’s Bargains, it’s such a lovely addition to our home.”

Debbie White, Home Manager at Eastbourne House, said: “At HC-One, our dedicated teams work hard to introduce new initiatives which benefit the wellbeing of our Residents. Jan and Bev have worked so hard to open up Betty’s Bargains, and it’s already proven to be a success amongst everyone at Eastbourne House.”
