Dukinfield care home Residents enjoy Salford Quays museum visitResidents at The Beeches care home in Dukinfield, Tameside enjoyed an art gallery visit in Salford Quays to see the fantastic artwork of L.S. Lowry.

The trip began with a lovely coffee in the cafĂ© before Residents and staff made their way to the art gallery for a presentation about Lowry’s life working as a debt collector around the streets of Salford.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed admiring Lowry’s paintings, while rounding off the trip by looking at the memorabilia in the museum.

Resident Catherine even wrote a piece about Lowry’s work during the tour to be featured on the gallery’s noticeboard.

Jim, a Resident at The Beeches, said: “I’ve really enjoyed looking at all the amazing paintings today, as well as learning more about Lowry’s background.”

Catherine added: “What a lovely place to come and see all Lowry’s work. I could have stayed here all day, the tour was fantastic.”

Sade, Wellbeing Coordinator at The Beeches, said: “A few Residents mentioned their love of Lowry’s art in our monthly meeting, so I thought it would be a lovely surprise to arrange a trip to the gallery. Everyone enjoyed the day out and learned a lot about his paintings and background.”
