71 years of wedded bliss for West Bromwich care home ResidentMr and Mrs Long met 73 years ago in Dartmouth Park in West Bromwich. He was at Home on a month leave from the Middle East and decided to go to the park to see his friends.

When Mr Long found his friends, Mrs Long was sitting with them. He didn't know Mrs Long at that time and he didn't know at that time that she has been writing to him for a long time.

He felt for her on that day and they spent all the time that they could together (going dancing and walks in the park) before he had to return to the Middle East to finish his service for six months.

2 years later and the couple wed at St Andrew’s Church, they recall that it was one of the happiest days of their lives.

Today it was the first time in 71years that they weren't able to celebrate together due to the new circumstances of Covid 19. Mrs Long said her favourite part of the day was seeing her husband; even if it was via video call.

Home Manager, Julie Hurst, commented, “We wish that we will be able to reunite this lovely couple that love each other so much soon, so we can all celebrate their love.”
