A day out at the garden centre for Sunnyside ResidentsA long-awaited day out for one Resident at HC-One’s Sunnyside residential and residential memory care home, just outside of Droylsden, was followed by an afternoon of gardening.

Valerie “Val” Rice has been unable to go out for the last few months, due to the same restrictions facing care homes across the UK, but the first trip out to the garden centre was certainly an enjoyable one.

She loved the freedom to walk around the garden centre and pick the flowers she thought would look pretty in the garden, which were later planted in the day. Val commented, “It has been hard work but I have never enjoyed myself more, thank you for taking me to the garden centre.”

Kay Harrison, Care Home Manager, remarked, “The garden looks lovely now; what a difference planting new flowers has made to the garden. It is uplifting to see Residents fully engaged and happy in their activities.”
