A garden transformation at Benfleet homeAfter some research within all houses, wellbeing Colleagues and Residents at Godden Lodge care home in Essex decided to transform their outdoor areas.

The gardens have become a peaceful, pleasant, colourful and relaxing place for everyone to admire and enjoy. The garden’s aim is for people to spend time there and go on their own or as a group with friends and family members.

Residents planted all sorts of flowers and vegetables and enjoyed watering them and watching them grow in to beautiful edible produce. There were some juicy red tomatoes, red hot chillies; and herbs such as basil, coriander and mint. The flowers include daffodils, marigolds, geraniums and pansies.

Residents have loved the whole experience of planting seeds, watering them and watching them grow and bloom, especially the vegetables, one Resident commented, "The tomatoes were lovely…nothing like home grown ones."

Another said, "Very sweet and juicy"

Home Manager, Lanie Mizona, remarked, “We are all so pleased to see our garden now blooming with lots of bright colours and wonderful smells of mint and lavender.”
