A karaoke Christmas at Sunderland care homeSpirits were high this festive period at HC-One’s Ashton Grange in Pallion as Residents took part in a karaoke party.

The home was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with Santa’s grotto.

Christmas morning was as traditional as it gets during lockdown with Residents opening their presents and spending time with their loved ones via Zoom and telephone call.

This was followed by a sumptuous turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Colleagues at the home usually organise a guest to entertain the home but this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic and visitor limitations, the Residents themselves became the entertainment.

Vera Pinder, a Resident at the home, said: “Today has been like the Christmases I used to spend with my family.

“I’ve had the best time.”

Residents and Colleagues took turns singing their favourite songs and dancing through the corridors of the home to entertain Residents staying in their rooms.

Great fun was had by all and the Residents and Colleagues were a perfect replacement to fill in for the home’s usual Christmas entertainers.

Ashton Grange Home Manager, Lesley Dawson, said: “With everything that’s going on we were determined to give the Residents a Christmas to remember!”
