A love of nature bringing families closer at Ladywood care homeLadywood care home Resident Ann, and her sister-in-law, Jill, bond over their love of nature in the letters they have been writing each other throughout lockdown. So, today Ann made some bird feeders for outside her room, hoping to attract the small birds.

Ann enjoys both making things and her love of nature, so thought she would test herself on making some beautiful bird feeders to hang in the home’s grounds. Ann’s sister-in-law Jill has been unable to visit Ann during lockdown, so they have been writing to each other expressing how they have both been interacting with nature. Jill writes to tell Ann how she is feeding the ducks on the local pond and how ‘Gerald the squirrel’ comes to visit her.

Nature is very important to Ann's wellbeing and interests and keeps her in touch with communicating to Jill. Jill said that she loves to receive the letters from Ann and says this brightens up her day. The two family members have been able to bring together their love of outdoor wildlife in a way of continuously interacting throughout lockdown.

Ann commented, “I like watching the birds and making sure they are not hungry.”

Nature is important to Ann and she said that she would like to make some more feeders soon.

We are most looking forward to seeing these!
