A month of holiday fun at Derby care homeColleagues and Resident at HC One’s Shelton Lock care home spent the whole of August on ‘holiday’.

The staff and Residents from the Derby care home have spent the month of August on holiday. They spent their time reminiscing about times and holidays gone by.

Each of the Colleagues and Residents spoke about their favourite holiday destinations, and how much times have changed over the years from Blackpool being a firm favourite to Torquay being classed as exotic.

Most of the Residents at the home had not travelled abroad as children, and some have never even been on a plane.

Friday the 21st of August saw the homes very own Beach party day take place. Staff and Residents dressed up in summery clothes and beach wear.  There was even a prize for which Colleague was dressed the best, decided on by the Residents - of which Michelle Holland, Home Administrator won for her Benidorm inspired beach wear.

One of the Residents commented “it’s lovely to see the staff dressed up”, whilst another said “it was funny to watch Jayne pumping up the palm tree!”

The afternoon saw a very competitive quiz, with Residents Nicki and Hugh coming in first place.

It was great to have a theme for the month and the Residents really enjoyed the different activities and talking about their holiday memories.
