A splash of autumn colour with Harvest wreath making at Blackburn care homeWith the upcoming Harvest Festival on the horizon and the Autumn Equinox less than a week away, the Activities Coordinators, at Old Gates care home in Lancashire, thought it would be a great time to engage the Residents in some Harvest wreath making with the aim of giving the units a dash of autumnal colour.

As well as decorating, the Residents have taken part in some birdwatching and gardening and making the most of the late Summer sunshine.

Old Gates Colleague Christy Udoewa helped Residents Coralyn Hammerton, Roy Lester, David Hacking and George Coathup all create these beautiful wreaths to decorate the home for Harvest Festival.

Christy commented, “They enjoyed everything, especially the sunshine as this added to their enjoyment of all the activities”.

One Resident said, "This has been thoroughly enjoyable. I really enjoy arts & crafts activities."

Home Manager, Helen Holden, commented, “It has been lovely to see how much of a positive impact these kinds of activities can have on our Residents. Amazing!"
