A time to remember at Grimsby care homeColleagues and Residents at HC One’s Clarendon Hall care home paid their respects on Remembrance Day.

Residents painted poppies in preparation for a remembrance service at the Grimsby care home.

The Residents used sponges to dab paint onto the pre-cut cardboard wreaths and poppies, whilst regaling each other with stories of painting with children and grandchildren.

They were entertained by music from the 1940's and even sang along to most of the tunes.

The Residents laughed at the admin who placed an unpainted wreath on her head and explained it was her halo. The giggles continued as funny stories were shared and staff stopped by to listen and ask questions.

The next day it was time for the Residents to gather in the lounge at the care home, with their painted wreaths they made.

The homes wellbeing coordinator Hayley, read poems, told stories and asked for everyone to share memories of what Remembrance Day meant to them.

It was an emotional afternoon, but was brightened by Hayley performing songs from the war era and asking residents to join in.
Everyone held a two minute silence and laid their wreaths on a table display in respect of our fallen heroes.

The day was then followed by an afternoon tea with sandwiches and homemade cakes.
