A true Westwood Lodge ChristmasBrookview’s Westwood Lodge care home, in Greater Manchester, enjoyed the past week filled with festivities.

On Christmas Eve Colleagues and Residents got well into the Christmas spirit with Elfie Selfie and Christmas Presents. Every year, the Wellbeing Coordinators dress up as Santa’s Elves and have pictures taken with the Residents.

On their way around the home, the elves deliver presents to all of the Residents for Christmas and Residents love the day. One said, “You both look lovely, love your outfits.”

The day after on Christmas Day itself, Residents enjoyed a beautiful Christmas dinner made by the Chef at Westwood Lodge. Residents raised a glass to say ‘Merry Christmas and may the new year bring happiness to friends and family’; which was very moving.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas dinner and socialising. Home Manager, Lorraine Young, commented, “We have had a lovely day, the Colleagues made it the best it could be under current restrictions.”

Today, the wellbeing team are still in the Christmas spirit and have been going around Residents with a special ‘Mini Buffett Trolley’.

The specialised trolley is full of mini treats for the Residents, including: mini pizzas, chicken bites and strips, sausage rolls, mini sausages, chocolate eclairs, vanilla slices and mini cheese cakes. They all enjoyed with a cold glass of beer, Baileys or Guinness.

Residents enjoyed trying the different foods and having a refreshing drink. Phillip Burke, who lives at Westwood, said, “The food was lovely.”
