A week of love and romance at Salford care homeLove was in the air last week at HC-One’s Barton Brook care home in Eccles, Manchester as one Resident celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with their partner ahead of Valentine’s weekend.

Eric, a Resident at the home, had a heart-warming visit from his wife, Joan as the celebrated their wedding anniversary.

Joan comes to visit the home every morning to bring Eric his daily newspaper and chat to him through the window. They miss each other dearly and this is the first year that they have to spend their anniversary apart due to the current lockdown restrictions.

Colleagues decorated the visiting room at Barton Brook, both inside and out, for the lovely couple, ready for Joan to visit. They had a wonderful conversation about their life together as Joan showed Eric photos of their wedding day and other fond memories.

The pair each received a very special cake to celebrate their big day. Eric chose to share his amongst Residents and Colleagues at the home while Joan took hers home to share with their family.

The anniversary celebrations were the perfect way to kick off a weekend of love at Barton Brook as Residents prepared for Valentine’s Day.

On Sunday everybody enjoyed a morning of crafts, making cards for their loved ones. Matthew, a Resident at the home, painted a very special heart-shaped wreath that he kindly chose to give to Housekeeper Kiala.

After a busy morning of crafts, Residents had a fun Grease-themed afternoon.

Colleagues dressed up as their favourite Grease character and sang along to the soundtrack with Residents. After a busy morning, everyone settled down to watch the movie with plenty of chocolates and refreshments.
