Ashton care home celebrates 75th anniversary of VE DayResidents and Colleagues at HC One’s Amerind Grove celebrated 75 years since the end of the war today on VE Day.

Most of the Residents in the Ashton care home lived through the experience back then, so it was a very important day to mark.

Residents are still keeping happy and positive throughout the pandemic, many saying it cannot be as bad as what they experienced 75 years ago during the war.

Staff at the home decorated different rooms in the home, had sing a longs to music played back then, prepared a quiz and best of all there was plenty of dancing.

The kitchen staff prepared a delicious afternoon tea for everyone to enjoy.

The Residents all had a great day, one commented “The food is lovely, and I’m loving all the dancing!”

One of the Colleagues said “It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of our Residents, and a lovely way to remember our history.”
