Autumn activities for Whittlesey care home ResidentsResidents at The Gables care home in Cambridgeshire have been exploring the new season, autumn, with lots of activities taking place including conker rolling.

Wellbeing Coordinator, Jane Watkin, has arranged a bank of activities with something for everyone, and not just conker rolling but also leaf pressing, scrunching and rubbing.

While completing the activities there were lots of chatting and recalling of conker fights in the playground, pickling and baking of conkers as well as jumping in piles of wet leaves!

“We collected leaves in the gardens and arranged them according to size and colour. We also spend time observing the birds, insects and plants in the garden,” Jane had recalled.

One of the best parts of the day was being outside in the sunshine and hearing Residents chatting about childhood memories, “They had so much fun sharing this beautiful time of year together.”

Home Manager, Helen Walters, said, "[It was] lovely to see Residents reminiscing."
