Ayr care home Residents help local children paint four-mile community caterpillarColleagues and Residents at HC-One’s Claremont care home have helped children in their local community paint rocks to create a colourful ‘community caterpillar.’

When Colleagues at Claremont care home were made aware that children in the community were asking for help to add painted rocks to make a piece of community art, they were excited to join in.

Residents started with a scavenger hunt in the homes garden in search for some big rocks that were big enough to paint. They couldn’t find many, so wellbeing co-ordinator Liz Galloway borrowed some from her neighbours.

Claremont Residents had a wonderful time choosing their favourite colours to paint the rocks with and drawing pictures on them when the paint dried. Rosin Durkin, a Resident at Claremont said: “Painting is one of my favourites things to do, I’m more than happy to paint on stones we find to help out the kids.”

The children are hoping to complete a very ambitious four-mile circle and our Colleagues at Claremont are more than happy to help. They all look forward to keeping updated on its progression and might even add some more in a few weeks.

Claremont wellbeing co-ordinator Liz Galloway said: “It's so important that Residents feel part of the community, now more than ever.”
