Baking time at Palacefields care homeFollowing a request from Beechcroft care home Residents, in Cheshire, at a recent Resident meeting, Colleagues have started a baking club at the home which takes place every Tuesday afternoon.

This week the ladies attending, including Residents Patricia Ryan, Elizabeth Guest and Mary Bentham, made chocolate loaves which were very much enjoyed!

Wellbeing Coordinator Barbara Stoddart, known as ‘Barbie’ at the home, remarked, “Residents enjoy the chance to bake together and spend time chatting with each other often reminiscing about their own baking and cooking experiences.”

The club is gaining in popularity with nine people from the Oak Community getting together this week.

Residents liked the chance to share stories and make something together. One commented, “That tasted lovely and I have really enjoyed this afternoon.”

Another said, “It reminds me of baking for my children when they were younger, I always used to like licking the bowl clean”

Barbie commented, “It is really nice to see Residents influencing the activities taking place at the home, the chance to taste the baking is very welcome too!”
