Beekeeping introduced to Bridport care homeSt James Park care home in Bridgport, Dorset took delivery of its very own beehive today!

Home Manager, Gordon Collins, who is an experienced beekeeper, brought in a huge 25,000 buzzy bees to a secluded spot in an unused part of the garden. This will be their new home for the coming months.

All Colleagues and Residents thought this was a wonderful idea and are hopeful for some honey. Many of the Residents were very interested in this but were particularly concerned about the man wandering around in the strange white suit, (which was Gordon of course!)

Gordon commented, “We hope that once they have spent a cosy winter, they will produce their own honey which we will be able to sell to the local community and relatives to help fund extra activities and other useful items for the home.”
