Birthday celebration and card making at Tameside care homeToday at the Beeches residential care home, everyone celebrated Rhona’s birthday and some Residents even took part in a card making craft.

Rhona enjoyed a visit from family this morning in the visiting pod and then opened presents this afternoon and had party with her friends at the Beeches. Colleagues played music from all her favourite musicals and everyone listened to music by Dean Martin and Bing Crosby, followed by drinks and birthday cake.

It was a good afternoon for everyone.

Rhona commented, “Thank you for a lovely afternoon I have enjoyed celebrating my birthday with everyone and you always do a good job of making everyone happy.”

Sade, Wellbeing Coordinator, remarked, “It’s always a pleasure organising a Resident’s birthday, but even more so when its someone who doesn’t always join in, and seeing them enjoying themselves with others.”

Also, today, Residents enjoyed making cards with trainee wellbeing Colleague, Brenda. Each Resident designed their own card, using crafts.

Brenda chatted to the Residents before starting explaining what everything was and what the session was about. She also showed them some of her other artwork and they enjoyed watching her do a small demonstration.

After the session there were plenty of cards made and ready to post to families for upcoming birthdays.

Sade said, “It was nice to watch Brenda doing crafts with the Residents, some of which they hadn’t done before and it was nice seeing them get involved and have something to be proud of at the end.”
