Black History Month celebration at Aston House care homeTo commemorate Black History Month, Aston House care home organised a special meal to mark the contribution that the black community has made to British society.

Residents enjoyed starting their day with a lovely tea party with Colleagues in their dress code cheering the Residents with singing and dancing.

"It's so important that organisations celebrate Black History Month and use this opportunity to raise awareness of Black history and culture- for many people, it can be a first step to embrace diversity and difference all year round," remarked one Colleague.

“We have many Residents living in Aston House and staff members who came for a new life in Britain and they have made such a great contribution to society that we wanted to celebrate their achievements."

"We are an equal society. People should be judged on their abilities and skills and not on their appearances."

Residents enjoyed listening to Music from popular artists played throughout the day including James Brown, Bob Marley, Nina Simone.

Resident Barbara commented, "I love Bob Marley, I like meaningful music".

Home Manager, Seema Sandeep-Jose, said: " The day is a brilliant opportunity to celebrate cultural diversity, traditions and history and see our Residents involved."
