Bolton Resident finally sees his son for the first time in monthsDavid Burke, a Resident at HC One’s Meadowbank House, has finally got to ‘reunite’ with his son who lives over 2,000 miles away, via a video call.

David Burke is one of the Residents who has been at the Bolton care home the longest amount of time.

David's son Jason has lived in Los Gigantes on the west coast of Tenerife for many years now, so obviously doesn’t get to see his dad very often, not to mention when a global pandemic hits!

A part of the reason that Jason has struggled to come over to England on a regular basis is due to him owning and running his very own restaurant in Tenerife called Charlie's Bar.

David and Jason often speak on David's own phone and exchange pictures every now and again too.

David has never video called anyone before and was completely made up when he was able to do this for the first time, with the assistance of the staff at Meadowbank.

David loved the fact he could see Jason ‘face to face’ instead of just on photos. It was a very special moment between the two and lovely for the staff to witness. David’s morale has been so high since his video call, he has been telling staff for days saying “I got to see Jason the other day!”

It’s moments like these that mean the most to the staff too, it’s so wonderful to be able to support Residents and Relatives create memories like these that they hold close to their heart.
