Boston care home delighted at garden competition winResidents and Colleagues at HC One’s Elmwood House were thrilled to be told they had won the annual HC One garden competition.

Today everyone at the Boston care home had a lovely surprise in the post. The letter was to let the home know they had won the HC One Gardening Competition and everyone was a little in shock!

One Resident commented “this is fantastic news!”

The Residents had so much fun creating such a fun and bright outdoor space that they can enjoy.

Five of the Residents also won in the ‘green fingers’ category, a big congratulations to Jill Aston, Joyce Spencer, Margaret Revel, Marjorie Milton and Vera Almond who took such a huge interest in the competition and came up with ideas which led to the big overall win!

The home have received two beautiful plaques and 3 certificates in the post, this was so wonderful to receive after all of the hard work and effort put in to transforming the garden area.

From their very own wishing well, to colourful benches and plant pots to a jazzed up BBQ which now is a wonderful home to more beautiful plants – the garden is now looking wonderful and a perfect place to spend a sunnier afternoon.

Tracey Klue, the home manager, said “We are delighted to have been chosen by the judges as the overall winner of this year’s Gardening Competition. Our Colleagues and Residents thoroughly enjoyed transforming our garden area and I’m delighted to see their hard work to enhance the outdoor areas of our care home for visitors and our Residents to enjoy all year round has been recognised.”
