Residents and Colleagues at HC-One’s The Hyde recently welcomed a new furry friend to the home in the form of Ozzy, the seven month old long-haired guinea pig.
Ozzy has joined the home to accompany the two chickens currently living there – Ruby and Phyllis – who enjoy walking around the garden in their pen to scratch and look for worms. The chickens also lay two eggs each day, which Colleagues purchase and take home, whilst funds go towards the upkeep of the animals.
Residents thoroughly enjoy watching the chickens in the garden as they walk around daily, and have welcomed Ozzy with open arms, each taking turns to cuddle and bathe him. They also enjoy taking him into the garden so he can use his ‘run’ in the beautiful sunshine.
Nicola Grinton, Home Manager, commented: “It is lovely to watch the Residents interact with the animals. Whenever we have local school children visit the home, the animals are always very popular too.”
