Colleague retires after 16 years of service at Newcastle care homeA Colleague at HC-One’s Orchard Mews care home in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne has retired after 16 years of amazing service to the home.

Sarah Nicholson, who has worked in laundry at Orchard Mews care home for 16 years, has hung up the washing one last time as she has decided to retire.

Doing the laundry at Orchard Mews is extremely important for the safety and health of Residents and Sarah has excelled in the role since she started all them years ago.

“The laundry was always lovely and clean, she'll be missed," said Orchard Mews Colleague Patricia Laughlin.

Colleagues at Orchard Mews decided to put a collection together which was organised by Michelle Ridley. It was kept secret from Sarah and organised as a surprise during the morning flash meeting on her last day. It was a very emotional moment for everyone and lots of tears were shed.

Orchard Mews Home Manager, Nicola Coulson said: "Sarah is a valuable member of staff who will be greatly missed, wish you a long and happy retirement.”
