Consett care home unveils COVID-19 memorial benchA bench has been unveiled at HC-One’s Greenways Court care home in Consett in memory of a Resident who sadly passed away of COVID-19 during the 2020 global pandemic.

Team members at Greenway Court embarked on a 47-mile round trip in July 2020 to raise funds for a memorial bench to remember a beloved Resident of the care home who passed away. Their fundraising efforts exceed expectations, raising over £2000 for a bespoke bench and plaque, which was made handmade with hearts and sunflowers carved throughout the bench.

A local building supplier, Travis Perkins kindly donated one ton of gravel which was placed in the area surrounding the memorial bench. The BBC attended the unveiling, broadcasting the care home’s bench to the local community.

Greenways Court Home Manager, Kinga Kowaliczek said: “Our memorial bench provides a place of reflection and remembrance for our Residents, team members and visitors for years to come.”

Located on Delves Lane, Greenways Court care home offers short and long term care packages for older ladies and gentlemen that require residential care and residential memory care for those living with dementia.
