County Durham care home Residents tee off in their loungeResidents enjoyed a day of golfing in the lounge at HC-One’s Greenways Court in Consett.

Residents and Colleagues cheered each other on despite being in high competitive spirits.

And after a quick break for refreshments, the Residents were back up ready for round two.

Irene Wood, a Resident at Greenways Court, said: “This is the best game I’ve had in a while.”

The idea came after a Colleague visited another home for a training course.

At HC One’s Redesdale Court in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, the Colleague spotted Residents enjoying a round of golf.

Seeing the excitement in the home sparked a thought in the Colleague and she bought a home golfing kit so Greenways Court could get in on the action as well.

The avid golfers were all ready to test the kit out and tee off the minute it arrived.

And the golfing showed no signs of slowing with one Resident, Janet, asking to play again the next day.

The idea for a home golfing kit was an incredible idea sparked by a Colleague at the home.

Greenways Court Home Manager, Kinga Kowaliczek, commented: “I think it helps to go around other homes getting new ideas.”
