Coventry Residents take part in City of Culture activitiesResidents at HC-One’s Brandon House care home in Bell Green are celebrating as Coventry is crowned this year’s City of Culture.

The care home is taking part in a ‘Window Wander’ where houses in the neighbourhood are encouraged to decorate their windows in a bid to bring the local community together through creativity.

People from the area can walk through the streets and look at the creative window displays that homes have put together.

Residents decided they would like to use the seaside as their theme and made fish, ships and mermaids to decorate the front windows of Brandon House.

One Resident commented: “The paintings are so bright and colourful. They look great.”

The Window Wander is taking place now up until March 5. Residents can’t wait to go for a little stroll to take a look at everyone else’s displays.

The event takes place as part of Coventry becoming 2021’s UK City of Culture, a title that brings a huge opportunity to boost the city’s status and standing.

Coventry was awarded the title in December 2017 after competing against 11 other cities. The city’s year in the spotlight will run from May 2021 for a whole year.

Brandon House Home Manager, Sheryl Davis, said: “It’s great to see the home getting involved in the City of Culture and with the local community.”
