Coventry care home Residents celebrate new Sweet Cart openingColleagues and Residents at HC-One’s Victoria Gardens care home in Coventry were delighted to open up their new sweet cart.

The lovely Residents at Victoria Gardens had been asking throughout the lockdown to go to the local sweet shop. Colleagues thought about opening their own sweet cart after so many requests, and today the dream became a reality.

On April 1st, Residents ordered a giant sweet cart and the Wellbeing Coordinator and Maintenance Officer teamed up to put it together and paint the cart. During this, Colleagues asked the Residents about their childhood favourite sweets and goodies.

Colleagues then researched different ideas for the shop based on the Residents feedback and modified diets to ensure it was inclusive for all. Colleagues tied a ribbon around it and invited all the Residents and staff to the opening ceremony.

The honour of cutting the ribbon was Resident Alan as he had supported Colleagues a lot with ideas throughout the process. He was so thrilled and had a huge proud smile on his face.

The Residents were so pleased that they can now go to the sweet shop! They thought it looked beautiful and enjoyed celebrating it’s opening all together.

“The Residents had a fantastic time and we are all so pleased with the results,” said Victoria Gardens Home Manager, Rachel.

In the peaceful residential area of Tile Hill, on the outskirts of Coventry, Victoria Gardens is a lovely, purpose-built home with 28 beds, offering residential care.
