Coventry care home wins McVitie's Biscuit competitionHC One’s Brandon House have been crowned the winners of the McVitie’s Tasties Care Home Competition.

All of the Residents and Colleagues at the Coventry care home are delighted to have won, and will receive a tea party on behalf of McVitie’s worth £1,000!

The idea behind the Tasties competition was to come up with a theme and bring it to life using McVitie’s biscuits. Brandon House decided to go for a garden and outdoors theme as it was a common love shared between the Residents.

There were so many different buildings and spaces created from a church to a rose garden, a garage to a pond and much more.

Resident Colin loved his green house, and talked about the time when he grew tomatoes back in the day with his grandad and helped him pick them. He carried on growing them and carried on the hints and tips his grandad gave him.

Another Resident, Gwen, loves to go fishing. A pond was created to represent Gwen’s favourite hobby as she would love to sit by it with her rod.

Resident Ian had a large garage and loved motorbikes, especially Triumph motorbikes. Ian loved nothing more than tinkering about with his bikes in his garage.

These are just a few of the examples and each section of the display has a lovely story behind it from a Resident, making the display that extra bit special.

Over 35 different types of McVitie’s biscuits were used to create this incredible display, and a lot of care was put in by all of the Residents and they really enjoyed seeing it all come together.

The Residents loved telling the Colleagues the stories behind their creations, it was wonderful to talk and have laughs whilst making the garden.

Brandon House are very excited for their tea party, they are already thinking of having an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme!
