Cramlington care home Residents enjoy VJ Day celebrationsResidents at HC-One’s Hartford Court in Cramlington enjoyed VJ Day celebrations on 15th August, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of Victory in Japan.

Residents started off the day by helping Colleagues draw and cut out some lovely British themed buntings that would then be displayed across the whole home for the day. Residents also helped decked the homes lounge with Union Jack buntings in preparation for a good old sing along later in the afternoon.

Carol, Hartford Court’s wellbeing coordinator decorated a trolley with Union Jack flags and supplied it with lots of British classics. Carol delivered some tasty alcoholic drinks to Residents as they all raised a glass to remember those who had fallen.

Colleagues at Hartford Court then set up a quiz for Residents that was war time themed. Along with this was some old classic war songs which Residents sang along to. Some even had a little socially distanced dance too.

One Hartford Court Resident said: “I had a really good time remembering the songs and joining in.”

The day went down a treat, with Residents enjoying some exercise when they were dancing, a little alcoholic drink and some music.

Hartford Court Home Manager, Janice Bell said: “It was lovely to see Residents enjoying the day.”
