Dementia Friends at Guisborough care homeFour Residents at HC-One’s Park House care home in Guisborough took part in the Dementia Friends course to learn more about the condition and how is can impact people’s lives.

The Residents at Park House were interested to learn more about dementia and the effects it can have on the lives of those living with it, they spoke with Wellbeing Coordinator Tracy who is also a Dementia Friends Champion.

Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative which aims to make the world a more dementia friendly place, trying to eradicate the stigma attached to mental health issues. The four Residents participated in a one-hour course which explores what life is like for those who are living with dementia.

The group enjoyed the course and said that they feel like they are going to be able to support and be more empathetic towards their fellow Residents in Park House who are living with dementia. They also received a Dementia Friends pin to wear which they are very pleased with.

Park House Home Manager, Julie Woods said: “I am delighted that our Residents are interested in learning more about dementia, awareness and understanding is so important.”
