Derbyshire Residents craft Chinese New Year lanternsChinese New Year celebrations are well underway at HC-One’s Bankwood care home in Duffield, Belper as Residents enjoy a day of crafts and food.

Residents took part in a fun arts and crafts session where they made Chinese-inspired glittery paper lanterns to hang around the home as they prepared for a day of celebrations.

Residents were able to sample Chinese food, including spring rolls, sesame prawn toast, prawn crackers and sweet and sour sauce. While some weren’t keen on the acquired taste, many Residents loved the flavours and enjoyed trying something new.

One unsure Resident commented: “I’m not so keen on the Chinese food. I think I’ll stick to stew!”

While there were mixed reviews on some of the dishes, everyone loved the fortune cookies and are looking forward to seeing whether or not their fortune comes true.
