Double Burns Night celebrations at County Durham care homeThere was twice as much merriment today at HC-One’s St Margaret’s care home in Crossgate as Residents celebrated Burns Night as well as a Colleague achievement.

Residents made a wonderful display of Scottish flags and tartan patterns during arts and crafts sessions ahead of Burns Night.

They were met with an enormous sense of achievement when their homemade decorations were set up on the big day, with plenty of fun to be had later on.

One Resident commented: “I liked making the tartan pattern and flags. I can’t wait to tuck into my haggis this evening!”

Residents enjoyed haggis, neeps and tatties for supper before testing themselves in a quiz about the Scottish Highlands.

But Burns Night wasn’t the only celebration today as Tina, a Colleague at the home, achieved her nursing pin.

She was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers to mark her enormous achievement as Residents and Colleagues alike congratulated her and thanked her for all her hard work.

St Margaret’s Home Manager, Katherine Swainston, said: “It’s a great achievement that couldn’t go unrecognised.”
