Residents at HC-One’s Ashgrove care home enjoyed commemorating VE day in style as they proudly toasted to the veterans both in and out of the home.
Emotions were high as everyone discussed stories of the war time, with one Resident in particular speaking of his experience as he spoke to his family members over the phone.
Everyone toasted to veterans everywhere as they enjoyed a small tipple of their favourite beverage before joining together to sing a rendition of Vera Lynn’s “We’ll meet again”.
One Resident remarked: “What a wonderful day to commemorate such an important day. I still remember the street parties with flags and bunting decorating the houses.”
