Dundee care home Residents make adorable sock snowmen for ChristmasFestivities are well underway at HC-One’s Balcarres care home in Dundee, as Residents create some adorable sock snowmen to keep in their rooms and around the home.

Crafting afternoons are a common fixture at Balcarres and during their last one earlier in the month, Colleagues and Residents discussed create sock snowmen in their next crafting afternoon, just before Christmas.

Residents started off filling socks with rice, to bulk them out, and added some different essential oils, peppermint, lemon and orange for uplifting and lavender for calming. Residents, with the help of Colleagues, then made finishing touches to their sock snowmen, adding eyes and noses, scarves and hats.

"I am calling my one Daisy! " said Balcarres Resident Margaret Skea.

Afterwards, Residents returned to their rooms for hot chocolate and a chat about what they had done for Christmas in the past and what gifts they received.

Home Manager Lynn McLean said: “There have been lots of comments from Residents on how nice these were to sit in their room and smile at. They also said the scents from them are really nice, so it has been a great success.”
