Durham care home opens its doors to visitorsHC-One’s Melbury Court care home in Durham is celebrating being able to open its doors to loved ones once again after almost a year of COVID-19 restrictions.

It’s been an emotional few weeks at Melbury Court as Residents have been reunited with their family after a year of not seeing them at all or only being able to see each other through a window.

For Melbury Court Resident, Jean Burling and her daughter, Linda it was a very special moment. Jean is unable to have her visits in the dedicated visiting room, so the team have facilitated a visit in her bedroom, Linda had an LFD test and wore all of the appropriate PPE before making her way to see her mother face-to-face after a year apart.

Melbury Court Home Manager, Hazel Southern said: “There were tears of joy all around, Jean and our others Residents at Melbury Court that have been reunited with their loved ones are so delighted.”
