Essex care home gets the coronavirus vaccineResidents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Seabrooke Manor care home in Ilford have now received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Residents stayed calm and collected as the programme got underway.

Mr Ahmed was the first Resident of the home to bravely step up and get his vaccination, while Mr Ukwayi stepped up as the first Colleague. Other Residents and Colleagues then closely followed suit to receive their injections.

This means the home is now one step closer to returning to some normality and Residents and Colleagues are hopeful about seeing their families once again when the government give the go-ahead.

May, a Resident at the home, commented: “This is the opportunity for me to see my daughter again soon. I hope this vaccine makes the current situation better.”

The vaccine is currently being rolled out across the UK to Residents and Colleagues in care homes under guidance from the Department of Health.

Now, everyone at the home is feeling very positive about what the near future holds.

Seabrooke Manor Home Manager, Iqbal Gurib, said: “It’s nice to see Residents and staff taking part to combat coronavirus and bring about a positive outcome.”
