Falkirk care home Residents enjoy a spot of gardeningResidents at HC-One’s Kinnaird Manor care home made the most of the beautiful weather recently and had a go at a spot of gardening.

The Kinnaird Manor garden needed a bit of work doing to it to tidy it up and get it ready for the summer sun. So, Colleagues in the home decided to put Residents to the task of sprucing up the garden, with a little help from staff.

Residents cleaned down the garden furniture and watered some brand-new plants before having a well-earned tea break where they chatted about summer holidays and places that they had remembered going on holiday, as children.

Helen, a Residents at Kinnaird Manor said: “"It's wonderful being outside for lunch because really we could be anywhere.”

The Residents really enjoy being outside in the sunshine and doing a spot of gardening which also helps keep the elderly’s general health in a better state by strengthening bones, muscles and joints; it also helps the elderly with balance resulting in less falls; keeps blood pressure at bay and reduces the risk of heart disease.

Kinnaird Manor Home Manager, Donna Stewart said: “Everyone looks like they are having a lovely time outside. The garden looks absolutely wonderful now, thanks to our amazing Residents and staff.”
