First round of coronavirus vaccinations complete at Newcastle care homeResidents at HC-One’s Fleming Court care home in Jesmond, Tyne and Wear have now had their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The home is now one step closer to returning to normality and Residents are looking forward to eventually being reunited with their families.

One Resident thanked the team administering the vaccine and commented: “Let’s hope this is the start of exciting stuff.”

The vaccination is currently being rolled out to Residents and Colleagues in care homes under guidance from the Department of Health.

St Margaret’s vaccinations were part of a massive city-wide effort that made Newcastle the first city in the UK to vaccinate all care home Residents.

Fleming Court Home Manager, Jackie Lothian, said: “I just wanted to say a thank you to the team who completed the vaccinations in our care home.

“It meant a huge amount to our Residents who have had a difficult, worrying 12 months, and the vaccine is an important part in how we are helping to keep them safe.

“It was a pleasure to work with health professional like this. Good luck to them for the rest of the roll out.”
