Front page coverage as pupils and Dovedale Court share special bondThe relationship between local school children and Dovedale Court care home residents in Wednesbury continues to strengthen.

Due to the local primary school children being unable to visit, the children wanted to ensure that the Residents did not feel forgotten by them. Through the ‘You have a friend in me’ scheme, the children wrote letters and made posters for the Residents. In addition, they made a wishing tree.

The children had placed hand prints on a tree and each hand print had a written message on from each child. One stated, “I hope you are keeping safe and stay happy.”

“We thanked the children for the cards and letters rom the Residents,” explained one of the Colleagues.

“We miss our visits from the children, but love seeing the pictures and reading the cards,” one Resident commented,

The story of the relationship between the school and home was published on the front page of the Darlaston and Wednesbury Life magazine and delivered to all households within the local area.

Home Manager, Dawn Allen, said, “The school are fantastic and the Residents ‘light up’ when reading the cards and looking at the paintings.”
