Garden to plate challenge at Avandale LodgeResidents at HC-One’s Avandale Lodge care home joined Colleagues as they undertook the task of collecting vegetables from the home’s garden, and creating a meal with them.

Once the team picked the vegetables, they took them into the kitchen, where the catering team created something everyone could enjoy – a delicious meal. Although only three tomatoes, one green pepper and a cucumber were ready to be picked, the staff took on the challenge as they used the ingredients to add to a home cooked meal for Residents to enjoy.

The outcome was three delicious lasagnes which were enjoyed by Residents, but also by Residents from neighbouring home Acorn Hollow.

Samantha Farahat, Home Manager, commented: “The team have done a fantastic job to grow these ingredients over the recent weeks. The outcome was definitely popular with the Residents.”
