Going back 70 years to the 1950s at Benfleet care homeToday, wellbeing Colleagues at Godden Lodge care home, in Essex, created a wonderful 1950s music and food day.

The event brought back rock ‘n’ roll, as well as delicious American style foods like burger and chips and pancakes with cream.

Back to the 2020s and Residents were loving the memories reminding them of their loved ones and their time together throughout the years when they were younger, growing up in this decade after World War Two.

Some Residents talked about the fact that at this time, the rations had gone and life was getting back to some normality and one way to have fun was dancing and the drive thru for food.

The Residents enjoyed dressing up and remembering the 50s. They also really enjoyed the food.

One of the Colleagues, remarked, “All our Residents gave good feedback. Patricia loved the food, Robert enjoyed the food and dancing, Ilene enjoyed the Pancakes and Phylis and Doris had great fun.”

Home Manager, Lanie Mizona, commented, “It’s nice to see the staff having different decades included in the activity.”
