Goodbye to retiring carer of 23 years at Henley-On-Thames homeMaria Porter has worked at Thamesfield care home in Oxfordshire for over 23 years as a carer and today was her last day working for us as she is retiring.

During her time with Thamesfield she has seen many changes but throughout has been the same happy, jolly caring and hardworking member of the team. She is now retiring with her husband and returning to her home in the Philippines to look after her father.

Residents and Colleagues joined together for a socially distanced farewell party and she was presented with a gift and some flowers. A great time was had by all, tinged with sadness because everyone said they will all really miss Maria and her wonderful smile, but wish her well on her new adventure.

“We will all miss Maria so much, she is always a joy to have around”, one Colleague said.

Residents enjoyed being able to say a fond farewell to Maria and wish her luck in her new adventure. One commented, “We will all miss Maria she is such a wonderful person and carer.”

Home Manager, Lina Nela, remarked, “I am very grateful for all the years of hard work and kindness that Maria has given to Thamesfield. We will all miss her.”
