Grimsby care home start growing their own produceHC One’s Clarendon Hall care home has made use of the sunny weather and started to grow their own produce.

The Residents told tales of growing their own fruit and vegetables when they were younger and stories of rationing during the war. Colleagues at the care home decided it would be a great idea to create their very own allotment.

Large tubs of potatoes and some chillies were planted by Residents. The staff plan to take a poll on what other vegetables Residents would like to grow too so there will be something for everybody.

Ann, one of the Residents said “I always let my husband do the gardening, but now I know how much fun it can be”

Ray from the maintenance team jokes “…and if you’ve got any potatoes left, are we allowed to make alcohol?!”
