Hailsham care home to walk 500 miles to raise funds for Digital Activity TablesThis May, Residents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Hailsham House in Hailsham, East Sussex are set to walk 500 miles, the home, on a treadmill, to raise funds for Digital Activity Tables.

On 10th May, Hailsham House kicked off the start of their 500 mile walk challenge, to raise funds for two Digital Activity Tables. The tables will allow Residents to video call their loved ones, play games, watch TV and keep their mind active.

Hailsham House Home Manager Catherine Brewster and Area Director Jonathan Catterwell, cut the ceremonial ribbon in the home’s new treadmill gym, where all of the hard walking will take place.

Cheers and laughter filled the room as the ribbon was cut and soon after, the walking began. Resident Elizabeth Martin quickly jumped on the treadmill and was one of the first to get going, she was so eager to start, as soon as she stepped on the treadmill she let out a ‘wahoo’.

The home has set up a Go Fund Me page where people can learn more about the mission. This can be found at https://gofund.me/514c17b2.

Hailsham House Home Manager, Catherine said: “I am just so inspired by Hailsham House, they want something an they just go out and make it happen, good on them.”

Located just outside Hailsham, in a quiet and rural setting Hailsham House is a friendly care home with 90 beds, offering residential, nursing and dementia care.
