Residents at HC-One’s Douglas View care home in Hamilton celebrated Burns Night, a Scottish tradition that dates back to the 1800’s.
Douglas View Residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful day of goodies including some Scottish staples, such as Irn Bru along with other refreshments throughout the day including scrumptious home-made shortbread.
For dinner, Residents enjoyed a famous Haggis dish with, Neeps and Tatties, after addressing the haggis of course. Douglas View Residents ended the night with a Scottish sing-along and a wee drink, listening to tunes from way-back-when to bring the most famous Scottish celebration to a close.
"I love to sing all the old Scottish songs! My favourite is 'Bonnie Scotland,” said Resident Sarah Keltie.
Burns Night is always a great way to bring all the Residents in the home together for a big night in and everyone certainly enjoyed the day, Robbie Burns would be proud.
Lyndsey Barnes, Home Manager at Douglas View said: “We enjoyed our Burns' Night while maintaining a two-metre distance and following the government guidance.”
“The Residents enjoyed the singalong and having a wee drink at the end of the night.”
