Harvest festival ready at Tameside care homeResidents and Colleagues at HC One’s The Beeches care home have been getting ready for the harvest festival.

This month at the Tameside care home they have celebrated harvest. The home had their usual church service digitally by St Johns church who usually visit the home.

The church provided the home with three hymns: all things bright and beautiful, we plough the fields and scatter and how great though art which all the Residents joined in with. This was then followed by a speech from Trevor, who is part of the church and some readings about harvest and thanks giving.

Resident Mavis said “the service was lovely, I’m glad we got to celebrate and the decorations are lovely”, whilst Ann commented “thank you for the harvest service it keeps me going and keeps my faith.”

The home also made a scarecrow for their harvest display, which the Residents got involved with. The Residents spent time reminiscing about harvest festivals and going to Sunday school.

The staff at the Beeches have collected food for a harvest hamper, to donate to the local food bank at St. Johns church. This is their way of saying ‘thank you’ for all the help and services the church provided during these difficult times.

Colleagues and Residents enjoyed harvest quizzes and word games throughout the week. It has been different this year but everyone has enjoyed themselves, especially those who wouldn’t join in with the usual church service.
