Hebburn Resident directs care home playResidents at HC-One’s Hebburn Court in Tyne and Wear have taken to the stage to perform a play after being inspired by one Resident, Rose Collins.

Rose spent 20 years managing St. Nicholas Hospital in Gosforth where she looks after people struggling with mental health.

One of the ways she used to build confidence in her patients was by getting them involved in performances about how to face struggles outside the hospital walls.

Rose said: “It does people a world of good to act and helps people through education and into employment.

It makes me feel wonderful.”

Today, Rose inspired other Hebburn Court Residents to make a play about friendship.

She shared drawings of extravagant stage costumes and told stories about her time on stage and working in the hospital.

Other Residents enjoyed hearing Rose’s stories and decided to create and act out a play about the benefits of socialising and making friends.

Kerry Pringle, a Colleague at Hebburn Court, commented: “Rose has been a breath of fresh air since joining Hebburn Court.

“She works closely with myself to create plays and to act out life events, it’s amazing.”
