Hebburn care home unveils new convenience shop for ResidentsHC-One’s Hebburn Court care home in Hebburn has introduced an internal convenience shop for Residents.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Residents at Hebburn Court have been unable to attend the local supermarkets and convenience stores for over a year. For Residents, this has taken away some of their independence and enjoyment from visiting the shops and purchasing their favourite items.

During a Resident meeting, it was decided that the home should create its own convenience shop where Residents can purchase a variety of items including confectionery, newspapers and toiletries.

The team got straight work on creating the internal shop, which has been named ‘The Old Vicarage Convenience Store’, the shop was officially opened on Friday 21st May by two Residents of Hebburn Court. All of the Residents have enjoyed using the shop and commented on how nice it was to be able to do some shopping in the comfort of their own home.

Hebburn Court Home Manager, Dale Summersby said: “I am so pleased that everyone is happy with our new convenience store, it gives a sense of independence for our Residents who are unable to visit the shops even when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.”

Situated on Witty Avenue, Hebburn Court care home offers short and long term care packages for older ladies and gentlemen that require residential care, nursing care and residential memory care for those living with dementia.
