Hindley care home Resident has racing wish come trueA Resident at HC-One’s Carrington Court care home had his wish come true recently as he visited the local Three Sisters Race Track with the help of charity Speed of Sight.

After suffering a stroke two and a half years ago, John McKreel, had not been behind the wheel of a car as he was left unable to drive. With the help of Speed of Sight, a charity which is known to provide the gift of driving to blind and disabled people, Deputy Manager, Angela, arranged for John to attend the local Three Sisters Race Track and enjoy an exciting driving experience.

43-year-old John was delighted as he took part in the thrilling ride in a race car, filled with emotion at the aspect of being able to drive again.

To make the day even more special, John was able to meet Mike Newman, World Record holder for being the fastest blind person to drive over 200 miles an hour alone on the track.

The entire experience was overwhelming for John, and he remarked at how happy he was as he had thought he would never drive again.

Rebecca Asprey, Home Manager, commented: “We arranged for John to take part in this wonderful experience, knowing how much this would mean to him. We are so glad to see how happy it has made John.”
