Horsham care home Residents knit blankets for local premature baby unitResidents at HC-One’s Oakhill House care home in Horsham recently began knitting some cosy homemade blankets to send to a local premature baby unit.

Oakhill Residents gathered in the homes spacious lounge and The Cabin, which is the activities room, to knit individual squares which will be joined to form mini blankets. Wellbeing staff produced a simple knitting pattern for residents to follow.

Each resident has their own knitting bag containing a copy of the pattern and a tape measure to facilitate uniformity. The blankets will be donated to the Neo-Natal Unit at East Surrey Hospital.

This kind of activity promotes social activity and a common shared goal for the Residents and is a dignified way for Residents to support others, which really appeals to them.

Located close to the centre of Horsham in Sussex, Oakhill House is a friendly care home with 49 beds, offering nursing, residential dementia and nursing dementia care.
